About Essiac

Developed from four herbs, Essiac was created by Nurse Rene Caisse in 1922, after being told a story of survival from one of her patients.

The formula originated from a patient of Caisse, Mrs. A, who had a form of breast cancer and visited a Canadian Ojibwa Healer for treatment in the early 1900s when she had no access to modern medicine. Caisse developed her formula from the treatment that was described by her patient, consisting of four herbs prepared in a delicate manner. Since then, many other success stories have come from the treatment, and there have also been many studies done on the formula.
